The Mission: Little Hands helps provide much-needed items to new parents and young children. Having a baby can be tough for any new parent. But worrying about diapers, clothing a child, and having the essentials to get through the first couple years can make it even more difficult. We help give parents and children from birth to 3 years old the essentials to thrive.
The Model: Working with our network of social service agencies, shelters, hospitals and other nonprofits, we identify the needs of families in Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield, and Goochland. We then collect new and “nearly new” items through grassroots community drives and corporate donations, sort and bundle the items, and deliver them to parents and children through our network partners.
The Need: One in three children are economically disadvantaged in the Richmond region, according to Voices for Virginia’s Children, and almost 40 percent of children in the city of Richmond live below poverty thresholds based on data from the Untied Way. With such a need throughout the region, we are actively engaging with communities across Central Virginia.
Our Partners: We currently work with the following partners, and are growing fast. If you are interested in partnering with Little Hands, please contact us!
